History
On March 4, 1999, twenty-five people representing fifteen Asian American organizations in Indiana attended a dinner meeting hosted by Albert Chen. It was unanimously voiced at that meeting that there is a need to establish an organization representing Asian Americans in the community.
On November 9, 1999, David Russell filed the Code of By-laws of Asian American Alliance, Inc., with the Indiana Secretary of State.
Purpose
The purpose of AAAI is to encourage and facilitate Asian Americans to actively participate in all aspects of mainstream activities, and thus, contribute their unique cultural background and experience in order to enhance the well being and quality of life in the local community.
Mission
- To facilitate the active participation and leadership of Asian Americans in all aspects of community activities, organizations and projects for the well-being of the community.
- To enrich the quality of life of Asian Americans, with appreciation of multiethnic cultural backgrounds and experiences.
- To provide support and advocacy of Asian-American interests.
- To serve as a conduit of global commercial, cultural, and technical exchanges and relationships.
- To research and develop strategies for and methods of implementation of the Corporation's purposes.
