On
Friday, 2 November, 2001, on the stage of the Indiana Historical Society
Theatre, Inter-Europe Spectacles, under the direction of Claude Beauclair, will delight any audience with the performance of POUR FAIRE LE PORTRAIT DE PREVERT
.
Jacques Prvert was a playwright, a screenplay writer, a childrens books author, and a poet with an uncanny sense for a new poetic art that best exemplifies the beautiful fluid qualities of the spoken French language. Easy to listen to, easy to understand , Prverts poems have broken the fixed forms of traditional poetry. They speak of life and love, justice, freedom, and happiness. They seize lifes situations in an anecdotal form, sometimes playful and sometimes poignant. They are concrete, down to earth yet surreal through a play of images and metaphors. They are music. They are songs. They project the vision of a poet in a simple universal tongue.
The
Alliance Franaise efforts to bring extremely high quality cultural programs to
Indianapolis
has mustered generous support from Central Indiana educational institutions as
well as from national and international professional organizations.

Joining
the Francophile public of Indianapolis and surrounding region will be members
of the Alliance Franaise , language
students from area high schools and colleges, as well as teachers from
all over Indiana who are attending the
Indiana Foreign Language Teachers Association.
Also, the Western Society for French History is holding its annual conference in Indianapolis and will be
joining forces with Alliance Franaise to welcome and applaud the troupe of
actors producing this outstanding
event.
The
Compagnie Claude Beauclair is a household name
for many high schools, colleges, universities, and Francophile
organizations across the United States.
For a quarter of a century, co-founders and classically trained actors
Claude Beauclair and Franoise Mojeret have brought their craft, talent and
enthusiasm to America and have presented a varied and extensive repertoire of
French classical and modern plays. They also have produced original montages of
selected French literary works to appreciative audiences throughout the
world. They have led numerous and popular theatre classes and
workshops at many universities. Accompanying Mr. Beauclair and Mme.
Mojeret in their 25th year
tour of some thirty American cities, will be Mme. Guylaine Droull-Haguais and
Mr. Andr Nerman. Indianapolis will be
proud to serve as host to such a talented cast of actors from France.
Mme
Guylaine Droull is a promising young actress who has studied music and
dramatic art at the Conservatoire National de Region at Nancy and earned first
prize in drama and diction under Mr. Jacques Thomas. Indianapolis will be great mid-western city for her to remember
on this her second ever visit to the United States with Inter-Europe
Spectacles.
Mme
Franoise Mojerets long and distinguished career in theatrical and academic
circles is matched only by her special talent in creating the costumes and the dcor for the shows
produced by Inter-Europe Spectacles for which she has been a co-director since
1970.
Mr.
Andr Nerman also is a multi-talented artist . He has performed classical and contemporary roles on stages
throughout France. A musician, a singer, and a producer he has written songs and screenplays for
both the theatre and television. Mr.
Nerman is credited with producing Paul Claudels The Book of Christopher
Columbus in Hollywood. This tour will
be his third to the US with Inter-Europe Spectacles with director Claude
Beauclair.
Mr. Claude Beauclairs credentials are multi-layered. As a stage actor, he played for the Comedie Franaise . Later he fulfilled the dream of many an actor and founded his own company in collaboration with Mme Mojeret. Together they produced over 3,000 performances on four continents. Mr. Beauclairs career also embraced the silver screen. During his movie career, he played in several movies among which R. Fleischers Crack in the Mirror with Orson Wells and Happy Journey with Gene Kelly.
