- An exhibit on Johannes Gutenberg (who developed the first printing press with movable type) from his hometown of Mainz, Germany, is on display in the Louisville (Ky.) - The Indianapolis Museum of Art is leading an African Art Adventure to London and Ghana 15-24 February?
- The Indiana Center for Intercultural Communication (ICIC) (part of the School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI) trained 1,500 volunteers and hospitality workers in preparation for Indianapolis' first Formula One race last September? During the summer, the ICIC also sponsored Indiana's first English for Specific Purposes Institute, which focused on strategies to help employees and supervisors overcome communication barriers and improve job performance in multi-ethnic workplaces.
- The newly-appointed Dean of the Indiana University School of Education, Geraldo Gonzalez, was born in Cuba?
- Members of the Jugendmusik D�bendorf, a band from Switzerland, were guests of music students at Br�beuf Jesuit Preparatory School and their families in October? The band members, young musicians from 14-22, had hosted the Br�beuf Jesuit Wind Ensemble during part of their European tour last June.
- Purdue University's School of Agriculture graduated the first student from its Peace Corps master's program? Megan Taylor will serve for two years in Guatemala as an integrated pest management specialist.
- The East Asian Studies Center of Indiana University hosts 30-hour seminars for middle- and high-school teachers on teaching about Asia? For information on the next session, call Sarah E. Stevens, Outreach Assistant, at (800) 441-EASC.
- The first students graduated from the German International Graduate School of Management and Administration, a cooperative effort between Purdue University's Krannert Graduate School of Management and a German foundation? Twenty-one students received master's degrees in industrial administration from Krannert at the institution in Hannover, Germany, in May.
- A partnership between Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand, and Purdue University was formalized in March? Purdue will help the university in areas including food safety, improvement of food processing and advancing carbohydrate research.
