President�s Message:

THANK YOU to all those responsible for the fabulous Winter Gala last month, especially Nelleke Bruyn, Betty Bunnell, Elvia Reyes, Susan Salenda and Chao-Hung Lee. The potluck was (as always) varied and tasty, and the entertainment couldn�t be beat. Performing were the Indianapolis Minyo Dancers, Ballet Fiesta, Minyo Club of Indianapolis andEarth Music Center of Indiana. A good time was had by all!

��������������� The new year presents many challenges. Please mark your calendars to attend meetings, and don�t forget to send in your dues for 2001. We have the next international festival to plan, participation in the Race Relations Leadership Network to define, and much more, including an �international links� website under development (check out the �draft� at http://www.cs.iupui.edu/~smckee).

15 February: "African Art: Inspiration and Celebration," lecture by Rosyln Adele Walker, director of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African Art; 7:30 p.m., DeBoest Lecture Hall, Indianapolis Museum of Art, 1200 West 38th Street, Indianapolis.

 

21 February:Dr. Christopher P. Atwood,  assistant professor of Mongolian Studies at IndianaUniversity will discuss "Can Mongolia Be inner Asia's Post Communist
Success Story?" at the dinner meeting of the Indiana Council on World Affairs. 5:30 p.m. social hour, 6:30 p.m. dinner. Cost for non-members: $21. Reservations: 317:566-2036.

 

24 February: Celebrate Carnaval with a creative coterie of Brazilian-American women from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. in Fountain Square Theater, 1111 Prospect Street, Indianapolis. 1-2 March: �Bridges to the World, an educational fair for Indiana youth featuring international opportunities for education, service and work at home and around the world is open during regular hours at the Children�s Museum, 3000 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis.
