The Ethnic Hoosier....January 2001
NEXT MEETING is during the Winter Gala on 27 January 2001
Bring your snapshots of the International Festival, the "500" Festival Parade and other Nationalities Council events of 2000 to share!
[If you haven't called Betty Bunnell (317:894-0036) or Nelleke Bruyn (317:577-8841) to RSVP for the 2001 NCI Winter Gala - do it now! We want to see YOU there!]
President's Message...
As we complete another year, I extend an invitation to all of you to attend this year's Winter Gala. The facility at St Michael's Center is quite spacious compared to previous locations and allows us sufficient room for eating and entertaining without being crowded. If you have been to the Gala before, come again. If it is your first Gala, bring a dish which you can coordinate with either Betty or Nelleke. We also ask that you bring a gift for the raffle. This is a chance to have a lot of fun and be able to get to know the other members of the NCI. So bring a super Ethnic dish, a gift and your family and friends for a great Saturday evening of family fun.
The new Board and officers will be introduced at the Gala and I extend my personal wishes to them for a successful year ahead. If you have not sent back the ballot that was sent to you, please do so. I have heard from a bare simple majority of you and would encourage you to send back your ballot as soon as possible. I would like to have an overwhelming vote of confidence for the new Board by your participation. Make sure that I have all ballots by the evening of the Gala but don't wait until the last minute.
Thanks again to all of you who have made this year very special for me. There were many projects that got left undone but there were projects that we completed that we had not dreamed of (like the "500" Festival Parade, what a treat!). The new year presents many new challenges to be met. We cannot sit on our laurels of a successful Festival from this past year. Thanks to the exceptional work of Dr. Lee. I cannot thank him enough for his efforts in making it a success. And thanks to all of you who chaired various committees throughout the year that contributed to the success of the year.
For those of you who haven't been active, I ask that you step forward this year and see what you can do to build on the success of the past year. Each of us has talents that can contribute to the success of the programs established by the Board. But they won't know just how talented and marvelous you are if you don't tell them. None of our programs can function without the contributions of committed volunteers within our community. Come to meetings and support the work of the Council while supporting the International Community. See YOU there.
