THE ETHNIC HOOSIER .. July 2000

Published by the Nationalities Council of Indiana, Inc.

NEXT MEETING IS 7 p.m. Monday,10 JULY, in the Athenaeum!

Presidents Message:

It is first-come, first-served this year for booth space at the International Festival. Each organization is urged to send a representative to the next meeting to sign up for a space We will have our people there to sign up those who havent already signed up and assign spaces on the spot!

If you have not signed up your ethnic/cultural dance or musical group for the entertainment portion of the Festival, do so at this meeting as well.It is important to get this part of our program completed early. We will use it as part of our advertising campaign to get a more diverse attendance at this years Festival. We need your help in assuring that we have another year of excellent entertainment at the Festival and you can help with that.

The last couple of weeks, I have been involved with veterans groups around the state as they have assembled to develop their leadership for the coming year. One of the things which has impressed me at these sessions is the growing ethnic diversity in that leadership. These are men and women who have answered the call for their country many times and are once again answering that challenge. With your assistance, I will take our programs to that leadership and seek their support in our endeavors. We can always use a little more help and these are an excellent place to find that support.

The Festival is just around the corner (19-21 October) and we will be calling on many of you to assist in helping to assure a successful year.I am confidant that you will be there when you are needed.Throughout this year, we have had some adversity that has created many challenges for us.Each of you has responded well to those challenges. As we move in to the new millennium, the challenges will continue to grow and it will take a diverse and dedicated leadership to meet those challenges. We have many good people available within our organization.New members are arising all the time and new opportunities as well, use your skills to help that leadership achieve success in the coming year. Not for ourselves but for our posterity! Our future is in the hands that we develop for leadership now!

Chuck
