THE ETHNIC HOOSIER .. July 2001

Supplement for members of the Nationalities Council of Indiana, Inc.

  1. Attention all ethnic group representatives: please plan to present a BRIEF summary of your groups plans for the 2001 International Festival at the 9 July council meeting. We want everyone to know what each of us is planning for cultural displays, food booths, entertainment and so forth.
  2. William T. Lewis of the YWCA is coming to our July meeting to talk about Race Relations Study Circles. This is a program we could implement after the festival.
  3. Dont forget to review the proposed by-laws changes. Well be voting on them at the August meeting, but if we need further discussion, July is the time to do it.
  4. DUES! DUES! DUES! If you havent sent your check for 2001, please do so.
  5. Gene Maresca, chairman of the membership committee, will be following up with all past members to be sure everyones affiliation is up to date. Were always on the lookout for new ethnic organizations to welcome into the Nationalities Council. Whenever you run across a group you havent seen at one of our meetings, you can be the personal ambassador for NCI (invite them to join us!) and then pass the contact information on to Gene Maresca, Nelleke Bruyn, Naty Dumaual, Bob Bunnell and/or Susan McKee! The more the merrier.
  6. The current list of delegates from regular and associate member-organizations of NCI is available through our website. If your listing is not right, please e-mail us.
  7. Pat Hubley of the Promotion Company is on the prowl for vendors and exhibitors for the International Festival. Any and all ideas are welcome, especially if they come attached with contact information. E-mail ([email protected]), fax the information to 317:236-6519, or bring it to an NCI meeting. Wed like more non-profit organizations and businesses to have display booths, as well as every ethnic group we can find in Central Indiana to participate with us.
  8. Ive received a duplicate of our IRS determination letter for 501(c)3 status, so we now have the proper documentation to submit with grant applications.
  9. Everyonemember or not-- is welcome to attend NCI general meetings on the second Monday of each month (except December and January). You dont have to be a member to come but we actively seek and welcome new members.
  10. Although The Ethnic Hoosier goes to all who are interested, this supplement is designed just for NCI members.
  11. Website reminders: check out not only my work-in-progress NCI homepage site (http://www.cs.iupui.edu/~smckee), but also NCIs two other volunteer-created websites, Phil Hus at http://www.am-biznet.com/intlfest, and Chao-Hung Lees at http://134.68.129.11/. Weve decided we need two separate web portals, one for NCI, Indianas international links, the international calendar and other information, and one thats exclusively about the International Festival
