THE ETHNIC HOOSIER .. June 2001

Supplement for members of the Nationalities Council of Indiana, Inc.

  1. The Naturalization Ceremony is a go for Friday 2 November and we still need a Festival team leader for that event. Volunteers?
  2. DUES! DUES! DUES! If you havent sent your check for 2001, please do so.
  3. Gene Maresca, new chairman of the membership committee, will be following up with all past members to be sure everyones affiliation is up to date. Were always on the lookout for new ethnic organizations to welcome into the Nationalities Council. Whenever you run across a group you havent seen at one of our meetings, you can be the personal ambassador for NCI (invite them to join us!) and then pass the contact information on to Gene Maresca, Nelleke Bruyn, Naty Dumaual, Bob Bunnell and/or Susan McKee! The more the merrier.
  4. Rudy Yung and Beth Waltz have resigned from the Nationalities Council board, so we have a openings for a few new members. Whos especially interested?
  5. Ill be out of town on 11 June, so Naty Dumaual will be conducting the meeting.
  6. The current list of delegates from regular and associate member-organizations of NCI is available through our website. If your listing is not right, please e-mail us.
  7. Pat Hubley of the Promotion Company is on the prowl for vendors and exhibitors for the International Festival. Any and all ideas are welcome, especially if they come attached with contact information. E-mail ([email protected]), fax the information to 317:236-6519, or bring it to an NCI meeting.
  8. When you go to the Italian Street Festival or the Middle Eastern Festival or any other ethnic event, be sure to say you hope to see everyone at the International Festival 1-4 November. Word of mouth is the best form of advertising!
  9. Has anybody seen the IRS determination letter affirming our 501(c)3 status?
  10. Take a look at the By-Laws (on our website); we need to make some changes (for example, eliminating references to the World Paks). Anything else?
  11. Everyonemember or not-- is welcome to attend NCI general meetings on the second Monday of each month (except December and January). You dont have to be a member to come but we actively seek and welcome new members.
  12. Although The Ethnic Hoosier goes to all who are interested, this supplement is designed just for NCI members.
  13. Website reminders: check out not only my work-in-progress NCI homepage site (http://www.cs.iupui.edu/~smckee), but also NCIs two other volunteer-created websites, Phil Hus at http://www.am-biznet.com/intlfest, and Chao-Hung Lees at http://134.68.129.11/. Weve decided we need two separate web portals, one for NCI, Indianas international links, the international calendar and other information, and one thats exclusively about the International Festival
