Nationalities Council update.�

This is it! The 25th anniversary edition of the International Festival is 1-4 November. Hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, and noon-6 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available at the door ($8 for adults, $5 for children 5-12, 4 and under, free). Highlights include the Opening Ceremonies (10:30 a.m. Thursday featuring Mayor Bart Peterson), the Naturalization Ceremony (noon Friday), Fuerza y Alma Latin Band Friday evening, and Polka Boys Saturday evening. See you at the Exposition Hall of the Indiana State Fairgrounds, 1208 East 38th Street, Indianapolis!

Mary Boyd, English lecturer at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis (IUPUI) , is teaching this semester in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates?

 

Eight Indiana schools (including IUPUI) are among 159 colleges and universities nationwide to hand over confidential records on foreign students to the FBI, Immigration and Naturalization Service or local law enforcement authorities? According to reports in The Indianapolis Star on 18 October 2001, the information forwarded at government request normally would have required a subpoena.

In memoriam�.

Dr. Hanus Jiri Grosz, who was born in Czechoslovakia, died 26 September 2001. A psychiatrist, he was past president and founding member of the Ethnographic Art Society.

 

Dr. John E. Young, an Indianapolis orthopedic surgeon, died 12 October 2001. He was a founder of the U.S.-China Friendship Association and served on the boards of the Indianapolis Council on World Affairs and the International Center of Indianapolis.
