Supplement
for members of the Nationalities Council of Indiana, Inc.
1. Rafia Syeed of Bridging the Gap, a new volunteer organization of concerned people striving to find common ground through recognizing and celebrating common values had a conflict last month, so shell make her presentation at Septembers meeting.
2. Under the new By-Laws provision allowing Reciprocal memberships, Im proposing two groups for NCI board vote this month:
1) Asian American Alliance (which has already offered the Nationalities Council a membership at no charge).
2) Indianapolis Convention and Visitors Association (which has already offered the Nationalities Council a membership at no charge).
3. Susan Salenda has agreed to chair the Nominating Committee for 2002 officers and
board members. Now is the time to begin thinking of whom you want to serve the NCI next year (and, yes, you can volunteer yourself as well as suggest others).
4. The crunch is on to get the International Festival in top form for our 25th anniversary season. Your groups cultural booth needs to be spectacular! And, if youre not planning to cook to represent your groups culinary heritage in a food booth, begin asking around for a restaurateur or two!-- you can bring to the festival under your groups banner. (Theres no reason a group cant have more than one food booth!) AND we need an NCI volunteer to coordinate the Opening Ceremonies please?
5. Yvonne Oomkes of the Promotion Company is on the prowl for more vendors and exhibitors for the International Festival. Any and all ideas are welcome, especially if they come attached with contact information. Fax the information to 317:236-6519, e-mail [email protected])or bring it to the next NCI meeting.
6. Tickets for your group to sell will be available at the September meeting. COME AND GET EM, then sell, sell sell! We all make more money if more people attend.
7. Everyonemember or not-- is welcome to attend NCI general meetings on the
second Monday of each month (except December and January). You dont have to be a member to come but we actively seek and welcome new members.
8. Although The Ethnic Hoosier newsletter goes to all who are interested, this supplement is prepared for NCI members.
