We are pleased to have as our October 17, 2002 speaker:

ADAM GARFINKLE

 Topic:

The United States and Europe: NATO, the EU and the Future of Atlantic Relations

There seem to be very few voices from the European continent in favor of President Bushs and our governments position on Iraq. Will these disagreements seep into NATO and EU relationshipsor have they already?

News items from periodicals published overseas are full of comments accusing the U.S. as arrogant, bloodthirsty, unilateralists and other negative epithets.

The National Interest is the real political foreign policy publication in the U.S. The editorial board includes, Conrad Black, Henry Kissinger, Samuel Huntington, Charles Krauthammer and others.James Schlesinger is the Publisher. Adam was the Executive Editor and now is the Editor of The National Interest (http://www.nationalinterest.org/) and is qualified to address our relationships with European and British Isle countries. He also is a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute (http://www.fpri.org/), Al Haigs favorite U.S. foreign policy research institute.

His CV is extensive including being a professional lecturer of American Foreign Policy, SAIS, Johns Hopkins University, director of Middle East Council of the FPRI, an Orbis book review editor, Tel Aviv University visiting professor of politics and other positions. His Ph.D., BA and MA were all earned in International Relations at the University of Pennsylvania.

Adam, while not as aggressive as Laurie Mylorie, is just as tough.Come prepared for a stimulating evening presented by a respected expert in U.S. foreign policy.
