FUNDAMENTAL ISSUES WE DON�T TALK
ABOUT IN AMERICA: DEVELOPMENT, TERRORISM, JUSTICE, CREDIBILITY AND
SUSTAINABILITY
Dr. Reed serves as Assistant
Provost, International Education, Ball State University.� His responsibilities include direct
supervision of the Center for International Programs, Ball State�s
representative to the U.S. Depart. of State Global Access Program plus many
others, which our chairman will speak to.
More recently Dr. Reed was
Director of the International Trade Division, Indiana Department of Commerce,
Indianapolis, IN from January 2001 through June 2002.
While Director of the
International Trade Division, he not only managed a $2.5 million budget, but
also managed our network of Foreign Trade Offices in 13 countries, a staff of
12 in Indiana, coordinated with the Council of Great Lakes Governors in joint
administration of five overseas offices plus a few other duties.
His association with American
University in Cairo ran from 1991-2002, even though he was on leave from
2000-2002.� Not only was he Founding
Director, Office of African Studies and Refugee Studies Programs, he was
Director of Forced Migration.� He was Associate
Professor of Political Science (promoted in 1993 and tenured in 1996).� He has also written two books and published
numerous articles.� �Cyrus�s CV will be available for perusal.
Cyrus is fluent in German,
considers himself just fair in French, but is familiar with Shona and spoken
Arabic.
