8th Annual Indy Irish Festival

update from Mary Margaret 13 July 2003

"We are now within 65 days of the 8th annual Indy Irish Fest. We have some exciting additions to this year's festival including a Fiddle Jam on Saturday and a Kilted Mile on Sunday. The festival music schedule has been posted as well as information on how to book a $79 Marriott room within two blocks of the festival site. Our headliners this year are The Fenians, Danu and The Prodigals. We also will see a return of Off Kilter, Brigid's Cross, Gael Force and Hog Eye Navvy. Other new bands include Gael Sli and Tom Sweeney (both direct from Ireland), local favorite Cathy Morris and Mother Grove. World class dancers always highlight the festival along with great food and drink.

"Some great warm up events are scheduled including a concert by Hog Eye Navvy on the canal at the Indiana Historical Society on Thursday, August 7th. There will also be a concert at the City Market on Thursday, August 28 And traditional music sessions at the Claddagh Irish Pubs on the north side on 96th Street as well as downtown at Jackson and Meridian Street. See the link to events for more details.

"If you haven't signed up to volunteer be sure to go to the volunteer page on the web site. We couldn't do this without our great and dedicated volunteers. If you have already signed up THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

"So get your kilt ready and make your reservations for an overnight stay. Tickets go on sale on August 16th (sooner if you attend a session night at the Claddagh Irish Pub)."
