Dr. Gilles Dorronsoro
"Gilles Dorronsoro is a specialist on Afghanistan and one of

Dr. Dorronsoro studied both political sciences and political sociology at
the University of Paris. He was quickly appointed at the Ecole de Hautes
Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris, the Centre de Recherches
Administratives et Politiques. He is also a member of the editorial
committee of "Cultures and Conflicts" and of "Central Asian Literature".
Gilles Dorronsoro teaches contemporary international issues and gives
lectures on the analysis of contemporary conflicts at the Instituts
d'Etudes Politiques of Paris, Lille and Rennes.
He has spent ten years of field research in Afghanistan, bringing to light
the importance of important networks of solidarity within the country's
inhabitants. He the author of the well-reviewed book, La Revolution
afghane: des communistes aux taleban (2000).
