Slovenian Cultural Society (SCS)
Indianapolis
The Slovenian Cultural Society was established in 1987 with hopes of strengthening the sense of identity and community for the Slovenians living in Indianapolis With approximately 125 families as member, the Slovenian community has been enriched by a variety of activities sponsored by the SCS since its beginnings. Over the past years, it has hosted a nubmer of guest speakers on Slovenia and her people, and cultural activites that include concerts, dances, and live performances of folk dances and songs. In addition to participation in the International Festival, the members of SCS have also enjoyed hosting a number of visiting guests from Slovenia. With a quarterly newsletter, the SCS strives to keep its members informed of its activities, pertinent news from Slovenia and the activities of other Slovenian organizations in Indianapolis. (1996)
