- Teaching about the Holocaust: information from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, including an online teacher workshop. For a review of the site, click here.
- Teaching About Asia: The East Asian Studies Center at Indiana University has been generously funded by the Freeman Foundation to conduct Teaching about Asia seminars throughout the Midwest and some parts of the south. The purpose of these seminars is to introduce the culture and history of East Asia to middle and high school teachers. With the exception of a $20 registration fee, the seminar is free to participants. In 2005 there will be two seminar sites in Indiana: *Indianapolis, Park Tudor High School, January 13-March 17, taught by Jeff Johnson; and *West Lafayette, Purdue University, January 11-March 22, taught by Dr. Sally Hastings. --The program includes stipends, free texts, and school resources for those who complete the requirements. --The course is not limited to social studies teachers. We encourage art, English, and Japanese/Chinese/Korean language teachers to register. --Teams of teachers from individual schools are welcome. (For each teacher completing the program, the school will receive $300 to purchase resources on East Asia.) --The course may be taken for graduate credit through Indiana University. --Those completing the program will be eligible to apply for subsidized study tours to East Asia. For further information, please contact Anne Prescott, 800:441-3272.
