Presidents Message.Zdravo, prijatelji ! *

In autumn, it is traditional to think of.elections? While the President of the United States is elected every four years, NCI conducts elections every year. You might describe this fact as democracy to the max. After reviewing ARTICLE VI (6.2.A.) of the By-Laws, I am proposing the following schedule for our election process:

August 9 Meeting: Appointment of Nominating Committee to recruit and evaluate candidates for board of directors and officers.

October 11 Meeting: Submission of candidates' slate by Nominating Committee.

November 1 Meeting:Election of officers and members of board of directors.

In the NCI spirit of cooperation and communication, I welcome volunteers for the Nominating Committee (only the designated representatives from NCI member organizations whose dues are current are eligible to serve on the Nominating Committee).

The featured speaker on August 9 will be Carol Trexler, President of Fiesta Indianapolis. Carol is also President of Trexler Associates, a multi-lingual communications and marketing firm. She will discuss the September 18 annual Fiesta Indianapolis and her business experience. I heard her speak at the Indianapolis Model UN program in March and she achieved a rare feat: keeping the attention of more than 400 high school students!

Diversity fact: According to the 2000 Census, more than 300 different languages are spoken in the United States. Nationally, nearly 18 percent of the US population 47 million citizens and non citizens speak a language other than English at home.

Mir,

Josef
