Presidents Message . . . . Zdravo, poletje!*

Festivals, fairs family and fun. Summer is a time for travel, visiting friends and eating food, usually to excessive levels in my case at the Italian Street Festival. Regardless of my Slavic ancestry, Italian cuisine is always at the top of my preferences. See you there!

Two topics of interest for the June 14 NCI meeting will be plans for the International Festival in November and last month's expansion of the European Union. Pat Hubley will present current information on the festival. Lech Papiez of the Polish Cultural Society of Indiana has promised to deliver a most dynamic talk on the EU enlargement.

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation celebrating June 14 as Flag Day. I invite all NCI members to bring a small, desk-size replica of their ancestral flag to the June meeting for our own International Flag Day!

Mir,

Josef

Josef Laposa

*The salutation is Slovenian: Greetings, summer!
