all ethnic group representatives: get those dues checks into NCI
treasurer Naty Dumaual at your earliest convenience. You can mail them to
her (8526 Canterbury Square West, Indianapolis 46260) or to NCI (PO Box
1623, Indianapolis 46206) or bring them to the meeting on 11 March at the
latest!
- Guest
speaker at the 11 March meeting is Bob Schultz, Director, Communications
and Public Relations, Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association �
the ICVA and NCI hold reciprocal memberships in each other�s
organizations. If you have questions about what Indianapolis is doing to
attract and take care of visitors from abroad, this is the time to ask �em!
We need an impressive turnout for this event.
- As we
discussed in February, we�re putting together a brochure of all the
international festivals in central Indiana. Does your group sponsor a
festival? Bring details, including the dates, to the meeting or e-mail [email protected]. Here�s what we�ve
outlined so far:
International Festival (31 October-3 November 2002)
African Unity Festival (21-22 June)
American Indian PowWow ( probably August)
Asian Festival (September; probably last Saturday)
Fiesta! Indianapolis (September; probably second or third
Saturday after Labor Day)
French Market (September; probably second Saturday after
Labor Day)
Greek Festival (Saturday after Labor Day)
Irish Festival (September; probably third weekend)
Italian Street Festival (June; probably second weekend)
Middle Eastern Festival (June; probably second weekend)
Oktoberfest(s) (probably September rather than October)
Slovene Festival (1 September 2002; �Sunday before Labor
Day�)
- Can you help Geri Watson
find ethnic entertainment for University of Indianapolis� international
dinner on 27 March? Call her in the International Division, 317:788-3292,

- The
Indiana Bilingual/Bicultural Licensure Proposal Committee needs our help
to maintain the certification program. Reasons include the advantages of
bilingual/ bicultural development in preparing students for standardized
