Presidents Message Dobrodosli, Pomlad!

NCI was represented at the recent Pike Township Multicultural Fair by Gene Maresca, Ahmet Fer and me. The day was full of varied cultural displays, ethnic foods and continuous entertainment. We were able to speak to several ethnic representatives and to promote participation at the International Festival. A fun and noisy day indeed!

Theresa A. Kulczak, Executive Director of the Japan-America Society of Indiana, will be the featured speaker at the March 8 meeting. She will be speaking on the economic and cultural connections between Japan and Indiana. In particular, Theresa will provide information on the 150th anniversary of the bilateral relationship in 2004. I enjoyed her presentation at the December 2003 Indiana Sister Cities Annual Meeting.

In closing, a few words on the upcoming (and personal favorite) season by William Allingham (1824-1889), Irish poet and civil servant, from "Daffodil":

Tantarrara! The joyous book of Spring

Lies open, writ in blossoms.
