Presidents Message.

Well, the time for our annual International Festival is fast approaching! Months of hard work are paying off as long-time members and new groups call for space at the event on 6-9 November!

In November, our regular meeting has been moved to the FIRST Monday (3 November), which will also be our last chance before the Festival to fine-tune what we want to do.

Now is the time to get those traditional costumes out of mothballs and (speaking for myself) make sure they still fit! We have only a few weeks to go until we have to get into them! And we need to have enough slack in the waistband to "pig out" for four days at the Festival, don't we?

At our upcoming October meeting, Bob Bunnell and his nominating committee will announce the names of nominees for officer and board positions for the coming year (which we will vote on in November). If you have been active in the NCI this year, I invite you to let him know now that you are interested in serving on the board in 2004.

Thanks to the Indianapolis Business Journal for including us in their "Not-for-Profits of Note" series. I only wish they had asked me for more than two "top volunteers," because we certainly have more than two!

And thanks to Frances Chen Russell for representing us so well in the formative meeting of the Family Strengthening Coalition. Frances is looking for some one of us to take over this position now that she has established our presence there, and I hope someone will step forward.
