Presidents Message. Dobrodosli, jesen!

The arrival of September brings forth an ethnic festival every weekend in Indianapolis (and within one hundred miles). A sampling is listed below. Specific event information can be found on http://nationalitiescouncil.org/calendar.html

September 3/6 Little Italy Festival, Clinton

September 5 Indy Slovene Fest (a personal favorite!)

September 10/11 Greek Festival, Indianapolis

September 11/12 -- Scottish Festival, Columbus

September 17/18-- Taste of Egypt, Carmel

September 17/19 Indy Irish Fest, Indianapolis

September 18 -- Fiesta 2004, Indianapolis

September 18 -- French Market, Indianapolis

September 18/19 International Mongolian Festival, Bloomington

September 25/26 -- Cultural Festival, Terre Haute

One might say the above festivals are worthy preludes to our own International Festival!

The guest speaker on September 13 will be Justin Hirnisey, Marketing Manager Indiana Sports Corporation. He will discuss the 2004 World Swimming Championships, October 7 11 at Conseco Fieldhouse.Several Olympic medal-winning swimmers are expected to compete.

I appreciated the spirited discussion of the NCI nominating process at the August meeting. To further address this matter and do general by-laws review, a special committee will be selected at the October 11 meeting to conduct said review and make recommendations for consideration in early 2005.The strength of NCI is found not only in ethnic diversity, but in diversity of opinion for the common good.

Advance sale tickets ($4 each) will be available for distribution at the next NCI meeting.  These tickets (at this price) will be available for advance sale only from NCI members.  All money and unsold tickets will be due prior to the opening of the International Festival at 10 a.m. Nov. 4.

Hvala lepa/ Many thanks. Now, if you will excuse me, I smell klobase cooking and hear accordions playing familiar polkas..
