President's Message May 2011
What an exciting month for NCI since we are participating in the Indianapolis 500 Festival Parade. For the Indianapolis 500 Festival Parade, please check and follow the guidelines:
· Only paid groups/individuals are allowed in the parade
· Ethnic costumes for the parade attire
· No blue jeans and T-Shirts
· Flag Bearers for each country
· Waiver Forms needs to be filled out and submitted
· All participants must meet in the Promotion Company parking lot by 10:00 AM to practice marching so our unit will look more professional
· The Chinese dragons and two lions will lead the NCI unit
More details and information about the parade will be given during the May meeting. Please continue to encourage more ethnic groups to join NCI.
NCI will also participate in the IPS/IEA Multicultural Festival at Castleton Square May 14, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. thru 4:00 P.M. During the meeting I will pass around a volunteer sheet for those who are interested in manning the NCI booth.
I look forward in meeting everyone on May 9, 2011 during the NCI meeting.
Thank you for all that you do for NCI and your continued support.

Scandinavia
Norway and Sweden share the Scandinavian Peninsula, but that is not all. We understand each other’s languages, we count Vikings as our forebears, we share political philosophies and values. On light Midsummer nights we light bonfires and dance around the May pole, and on dark winter nights we fill the house with candles. We also share a love of seafood – smoked bökling in Sweden, smoked herring in Norway, salmon with dill potatoes. We eat meatballs in cream sauce with lingonberry jam, knekkebrød with cheese, cloudberry cream or fresh berries for dessert. Through the centuries there has been some sibling rivalry, of course, but as siblings we also know how much we have in common.
