President's Message
September 2011

Last Saturday, August 27, 2011, I attended and participated in the Lafayette Square Coalition “A World of Difference” Cultural parade. It was a fun and enjoyable event. There are a lot of our NCI group members who participated in the parade: American Turkish Association, India Association of Indianapolis, Asian Services of Indiana, Sikh Satsang of Indianapolis, and the Indianapolis Chinese Culture Center.

The “Taste of Difference” was a part of the event, and there are a lot of different restaurants around the area that participated with a sampling of the different ethnic foods.
NCI hosted: “Learn about how to become a U.S. Citizen” August 16, 2011, at Decatur Library. NCI collaborated with Catholic Charities, City of Indianapolis, Exodus Refugee Immigration, Immigrant Welcome Center, Indianapolis Marion County Public Library, Muslim Alliance of Indiana, Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic, The International Center, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to form a group called “Citizenship and Residency Alliance,” for educating and directing community members to immigration resources.
This year NCI will be participating in the following events Penrod Arts Fair and German Festival to promote our International Festival 2011.
I look forward in meeting everyone on September 12, 2011 at the NCI meeting.

President, Nationalities Council of Indiana
